This weekend my husband, and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. November 17, 2018 will forever be one of the happiest days of our lives, and I often wish I could relive that day even if it means going through all the stress of planning all over again. There is so much thought and planning that goes into a wedding that you'd think everything will come out perfect right? Well that's not always the case, in fact, I believe that every wedding is bound to have a hiccup here and there, and that's totally okay. I don't have any cool stories like my dress catching on fire, or someone giving birth at my reception, but here are ten things that did go wrong at our perfectly imperfect wedding...

"Holey" veil
It all started the night before our wedding. I was so busy the days leading up to our big day, that I completely forgot to get my veil steamed. The veil was so wrinkled so the night before the wedding I was up trying to find ways to get the wrinkles out as I didn't have a steamer. We had an early ceremony so running to the store to buy one, or borrowing one from a family member was out of the question. It was around 1:00 a.m. when I decided to throw the towel, and try to carefully iron it which only made things worse because veils are so delicate so I only ended up burning a hole in it. This literally reminded me of "The office" scene where Pam tears her veil LOL! I ended up hot gluing the hole and wore it like that which wasn't noticeable unless I pointed it out phew!
The makeup artist was late
Luckily she was quick on makeup and we were able to get to the venue on time but it was a very close call. I will say that my makeup was so pretty, and lasted all night long! I would definitely hire her again.
Uninvited guests
Our wedding ceremony was outdoors and while the weather was perfect, there were bees flying around during the ceremony. Yeah I thought bees were a March-May thing but apparently they like winter season too because they showed up uninvited to my wedding. One of them even had the audacity to sit on my husbands back while he was saying his vows lol. He didn't get stung in case you're wondering :)

The Mic went out during our vows
Okay this one sucked! My husband wrote some sweet words for our son, and just as he was saying them the mic went out. My husband had to talk loud but even then, it was difficult to hear since our ceremony was outdoor. Thankfully the mic started working a little after my husband was done. Can you imagine not having a working mic? Phew!

His other left hand
Omg you guys! I put my husbands ring on the wrong hand!!! You would think that after having a wedding recital, and watching so many wedding videos on Youtube, I would have gotten this right. It was all happening so fast and my husband and I were both so in the moment that neither of us noticed. It was until after the ceremony was over that my sister asked why his ring was on the right hand. Oops!

I left my reception dress at home
I bought a second (inexpensive) dress for the reception but decided to leave it at home and get my moneys worth out of my wedding dress. This was a big mistake because my wedding dress ended up trashed! It had multiple snags, and some of my bustle buttons had popped off because people kept stepping on the dress. I guess you can say I got my moneys worth after all ha!

Wherefore art thou videographer?
The videographer is my husband’s friend who shot our ceremony, but had to leave right after. He’s under contracts with big brands, and was hired on our wedding day to film the Travis Scott Astroworld concert. Because he had to leave early, he had one of his videographer friends fill in for him for the reception and she was so late. She was coming from a far distance and was also stuck in traffic. We tried to hold off as long as we could but eventually had to start without her so we didn’t get to record the bridal party presentation, and first dance. I'm glad we got everything with our phone cameras but it would've been nice to have the footage in high quality.

No cake topper
I had ordered a cute gold topper from Etsy with our last name and I forgot it at home. This tiny detail felt like the end of the world at the time, and I couldn't get over it. That is until my mom's friend stepped in, and added roses to the top of the cake so it wouldn’t look empty. It turned out beautiful, and I was able to move on from this "tragedy" lol

Thank you speech fail
Ok so I had the perfect thank you speech planned out. I had a part where I thanked everyone for coming, and how happy I was to become part of my fiancés family, heck I even had a few jokes in the speech and I completely blanked out! Thankfully my husband is better with speeches so we didn't look like dumb and dumber.
You get what you pay for
My $55 hair stylist was exactly what I paid for. I loved how my hair turned out, but before the night was over the bobby pins were popping out, and my hair was falling apart.

No matter how many bumps we had on our wedding day, it felt like everything still came out perfect, and now we look back and laugh about it all. At the end of the day, I married my best friend and that is all that matters. Thanks for stopping by!
